Gleanings……. (Living seed Vol. 7 No. 3 Nov. 2000)
Now, LORD, I have seen the subtle way, the world system seeks to crowd my soul and plant strong seeds therein – I have seen vanity being advertised and paraded before my eyes, if I will let them in … it is steady and calculated! But I have seen thy warnings and the path you have trod… I have seen how You insulated Thyself from the world system. There is no other way for me as well… but to flee from every appearances of evil and to be separated unto God!
I have also seen the oppression of the world system on all… It leaves men no choice but to conform to its standards. It displays its ideals and ideas all over the street; on every billboard and on every available screen. The prince of this world has created a web, to entangle into its net, all the passers-by. I have seen a grand-master behind these grand designs – to serve the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the pride of life…
LORD, one cry in my heart this morning is that I may hate the WORLD system as You do! I may avoid its entanglements, just as You did; that I may so fight the world system and worldliness in my generation, as You did and as all the elders who prevailed to push forth the kingdom among men!
This World system is a covering of darkness… It uses all the flash to blind the eyes of men and to keep them still in darkness – My LORD Jesus said:
“Iam come as light into the world, that whosoever believeth on Me should not abide in darkness…”
Every man in the WORLD is actually groping in the dark. The ideals and pursuits of the world system are empty, yet made so important that men presume that they are real… As You saw Your mission into the world system as a light that lightens every man … help me to recognize my definite role in this age to bring the LIGHT of life into several men who still grope in the dark alleys of this world…
The challenge of Your life unto me is most overwhelming dear LORD! The challenge of Thy consecration (for ever more) is a matter in my heart this morning! You emptied Yourself of every attraction from the world, and it was final. The prince of this world kept coming to You, but he found nothing of his in You. ‘Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the Prince of this world cometh, and has nothing in Me.’… was Your firm declaration to Your disciples.
HELP ME TO GROW ON INTO YOUR VERY LIKENESS…
Consecrated once and forever more consecrated unto God! Holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens! You lived above the powers that rule in the air. You firmly rejected the offer from the Prince of this world to take the goods, the glamour and the glory of the kingdoms of this world for a token fee of compromise… You ran away from the honorary installation of their fake crown to make You their puppet king… Some came with the flatteries of loud ovation ‘Good Master’, ‘Teacher’ just to flatten You out…but You never fell to their tricks… No one in and of the world is good is Your unswerving conviction. You received not honour from men. The only honour You sought and waited patiently for is the one that comes from above. When the world could not persuade You to join their ranks, they declared war and weaved a crown of thorns to mock and ridicule the Prince of Peace…
To Hell with the world and its toys! Its web must not form a cobweb around my feet. I am a pilgrim and a stranger in this world. My mission here is clear and that to destroy the works of the rulers of this present darkness.
